On your marks.. 116 Pall Mall and the London Marathon
The London Marathon is one of our favourite times of year, as it’s a celebration of hard work, perseverance and self-belief, and shows off the beautiful area around 116 Pall Mall to the world – in person for those running or supporting on the side lines along the Mall, or to the millions of people who tune in to the television and online coverage across the globe, hoping to catch a glimpse of a loved one or a favourite London landmark in the process.
We’ve never taken our place in the middle of the action for granted, and every year we open our doors to the inspirational runners, supporters and charities that make the race what it is before, during and after the famous 26.2 miles.
This year we’re delighted to welcome teams from Asthma UK, the British Lung Foundation, Crimestoppers, Dogs Trust, my AFK, Concern Worldwide and ActionAid to 116 Pall Mall for this year’s race, as a place to make any final preparations for the big day, grab a bite to eat and drink and afterwards for post-race massages and celebrations.
We host different charity partners every year, with many coming back to celebrate with us annually, giving us a chance to catch up with familiar faces and toast to their successes – not only in the race and with their fundraising runners, but as a team and organisation.
Speaking about the event, our Marketing Manager at 116 Pall Mall Kate Dean said:
“We love the buzz in the building! After all these years of hosting events, parties and beautiful weddings, it’s such an honour to have all of our rooms taken over by these fantastic charities for something that's so iconic around the world. With hundreds of guests coming into the building throughout the day, for us it’s also such a treat to see the building so busy at the weekend – something we’ve also started to see with our new Afternoon Tea which I’m sure the runners would love to tuck into after the race!
“To see so many runners and their chosen charity teams go through the process of shaking off the pre-race nerves and tension in the morning, to the elation we see once they've finished in the afternoon and of course the celebrations into the evening makes it a full day to remember, year after year. We’d like to wish all the runners and charities the best of luck for Sunday!”
